Lafayette Art Association

1019 Auburn Ave., Lafayette, LA 70503
The Lafayette Art Association (LAA) was established in 1959 by a core group of artist and art patrons for the sole purpose of promoting, encouraging and supporting education in the visual arts.

The organization remains vibrant through member support, volunteer staff, and its many generous patrons. We operate and maintain a central art gallery and five leased studios at our Oil Center location as well as several “satellite” galleries with a membership of over 200 artisans and art patrons. The galleries are free and open to the general public serving Lafayette and Acadiana. Much of the artwork is available for purchase benefiting both artist and Gallery. The LAA has supported the University of Louisiana at Lafayette annually since 1959 offering a perpetually endowed scholarship since 1980. In 2008, the LAA organized the Lafayette Watercolor Guild (LWG).

Laura Lahaye’s multimedia religious-themed pieces and watercolors will be on display. Edward deMahy will have functional pottery, art pottery, drawings, paintings and mixed media on paper. Dusty Reed will show of contemporary folk art. Cathy Bader Mills will have paintings and ceramics: “I work in mixed media and clay. My hope is that the birds, crawfish and abstracts bring a smile to the faces of viewers and they offer a sense of peace.”

LAA’s main gallery location host an array of workshops and classes for both adults and children. Affording art enthusiast the opportunity to ignite their passion in the arts in a wide variety of media. Please consider a membership or financial support of the many worthwhile activities and events that encourage our region’s artistic spirit and development.
